how do I remove the default reaction emojis on FaceTime

I was conversing with my daughter on FaceTime today and emojis such as thumbs up and down and balloons appeared in response to our conversation. I find this disturbing, the fact that someone somehow somewhere is listening and responding to me. How can I switch this off?

You can shut them off here:

Use video conferencing features on iPhone - Apple Support

Nobody is listening to your call. Nothing to be disturbed about.

  • Balloons will appear when a peace sign is detected on your screen.
  • Thumbs Up will appear when a thumbs up is detected on your screen.
  • Thumbs Down will appear when a thumbs down is detected on your screen.
