Turning iMac from 2013 into a monitor

I have an early 2013 imac desktop up to date on all updates and I'm looking to officially turn it into a monitor. What adaptor do I need to purchase to make this happen? I have a 2024 macbook air laptop.

iMac 21″, macOS 10.15

Target display mode requires:

Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

For 2011-mid 2014 iMacs:

* iMac used as a display must have macOS High Sierra or earlier installed.
* The other Mac that you’re connecting it to must have been introduced in 2019 or earlier and have macOS Catalina or earlier installed.
* The cable connecting the two Mac computers must be a Thunderbolt  or Thunderbolt 2  cable.

It wouldn’t work with your 2024 MacBook Air.
