Why can't I find the original version of a song on Apple Music?

I have an apple account through Verizon. I have been searching for the original song by a certain artist and can only find the one wherein she performed it live. It's great, but the original is nostalgic for me. It's "This time i'll be sweeter " by Linda Lewis from the "Not a little girl anymore" album.

The album needs to be uploaded to Apple Music by the Artist/Music Label. They are the ones that choose where they want their music to be available. It is not available on Spotify or Pandora streaming service either. It would be illegal for Apple or any other streaming service to simply add the album without the owner making it available to the service.

Thanks for your quick response. I have located the song on YouTube. Isn't YouTube a streaming service?

YouTube does have a music service where Artists/Right Owners can publish music like the others and the cost of their service is $10.99 per month. This is the only legal method to distribute music that allows the Artist/Right Owners to be paid for their content.

What you have most likely found is a user who has uploaded the song on their own channel. This is a copyright infringement and if the Artist/Rights Owner were aware of the channel, they could immediately have it taken down. You or anyone else could also report that user for the violation. More information on how Youtube deals with copyright infringement can be found here. Usually Youtube will take no action until the violation is brought to their attention.

You will find that if you subscribed to the Youtube Music service where songs are legally distributed by the Artist/Rights Owner, you would only find the same live version of the song.
