Stop Notes from iPad from showing up on Mac

I am trying to stop Notes from my iPad from showing up on my Mac. I have turned off iCloud syncing for Notes on my Mac. I cannot do the same for my iPad because it deletes them from the iPad and I still need to access those Notes. Even though I have turned off iCloud syncing on my Mac, the new Notes that I create on my iPad still show up on the Mac. None of the notes were created on the Mac, they were all created on the iPad. How do I stop the Notes from being shared across my devices?
