Apple TV 4K A1842 - recovery mode

My Apple TV 4K (A1842) is frozen and constantly flashing a white light. When I bring my iPhone close to it, it shows a “Restore Apple TV” screen on the iPhone. I follow the instructions, and it asks for a "enter verification code will appear on apple tv" 6-digit code that should appear, but no code shows up on the TV. What should I enter?
