Sequoia upgrade stops my scanner

Hi I've read all of the feedback for the printing problems with Sequoia iOS and the offered problem solving isn't the same on my mac. I don't see any rastertoescll app. I can print fine but when I go to scan, i get an image capture dialog box from apple 9902. I have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled all the relevant software and can't find any answer to get my scanner connecting with the printer. Its an Epson XP 4100 Do I need to go buy a new printer now?

Hi, I use "Vuescan" which works great with I believe "any scanner". I have a lifetime subscription. Purchased it for scanning on high end scanner with no scanning software provided over 10 years ago. It works great on my Canon MG3600 Series scanner. Very direct and easy to use. Professional results and updates software regularly works fine with Sequoia. Not sure if Hamrick software has a trial version, but have a go if it does.

Sequoia isn’t iOS (yet). Printing & Scanning are two different capabilities that happen to coexist in the same box.

I have no idea what “rastertoescll” has to do with anything, and I don’t know what you mean by “apple 9902.”

The built-in scanning interface is called “Image Capture Architecture” (ICA). If the scanner manufacturer chooses to use that instead of writing their own scanning interface, you scan through Image Capture.

I have an Epson All-in-One and don’t use any of there software at all. I use AirPrint to print and the ICA driver to scan through Image Capture or one of the app plugins (Preview). I don’t know if you can or cannot scan in Image Capture, but if you don’t want to scan through the ICA interface, you would have to use a scanning app provided by Epson or a third party.

For your AIO, Epson doesn’t specifically identify an ICA driver, but the do offer a compatibility scan utility. If that Scan Utility doesn’t work, and you want to use that instead of Image Capture, you need to contact Epson Support.
