Dear all,
I have tried to crate a simlink
sh-3.2# ln -s /Volumes/2BIG_6TB\ -\ DIF/Motion\ Templates.localized Motion\ Templates.localized
but it is non working. I cannot see my templates.
Some suggestion?
Just to make sure: did you quit and restart FCP after making these changes?
I take it that the templates did show before you moved the folder to the external, right?
Can you post a screenshot showing the hierarchy of folders?
Can you post a screenshot of the Info window for Motion Templates.localized?
Here is what the Info window shows for Motion Templates in my machine:
And here is an example of the folder hierarchy from my machine (it's a transition, but the others are analogous::
There is something wrong: if I rename the original folder into the Movies folder (no link) to OLD_Motion Templates, then start FCPX, close FCPX and rename the folder to the original name (without OLD before) FPCX does not recognize it.
The folder exist but not for FCPX.

So inside the Movies folder, you see Motion Templates.localized but it is an alias to itself?
Could you post a screenshot of the Info window?
Also: in Terminal, do this:
cd ~/Movies
ls -ld "Motion Templates.localized"
and post the output you get.
Here what I see.
It seems to be ok. But when running FCPX nothing.
If I run Motion it create another Folder with same name (identical)
Just to make sure: were you at the Movies directory when you issued that command?
Do you see Motion Templates there in Finder? Press Command-I to open the Info window. What does it say?
I see in the right folder the link.
if I press Comm-I I see the the original seems to be itself and not the one in the external drive
Does FCP have "Full Disk Access" in System Settings->Privacy & Security?
It probably does, but if not, then it may not see the contents of the external.

But... Another BIG problem: if I come back (replace the original folder int Movies) FCP does not see it!
Which right should have the original folder?

I'm curious as to why you wanted to move the folder.
Is it really massive?
