AirPods Microphone Not Working – Muffled Sound and Background Noise Louder

My AirPods microphone has stopped working properly. I can hear others clearly, but they can’t hear me at all during calls. When I tested the mic using the voice recorder, the sound was extremely muffled, and background noise was louder than my voice. It was inaudible for the first few seconds, then audible but muffled then had a lot of background noise.

I’ve already tried:

1. Checking the microphone settings (set to “Automatically Switch” and tested left/right mics).

2. Resetting and reconnecting my AirPods.

Has anyone experienced this, and are there any solutions before I take them in for repair?
