Final Cut Pro won't open on External WD drive because it's too full

I have a 2TB external Western Digital My Passport hard drive where I've stored my Final Cut Pro projects. The drive is full. When I try to open Final Cut Pro it says the library must be updated to work with this version of Final Cut Pro. It then says "Final Cut Pro cannot save changes to my external drive and that the storage location for one or more libraries is no longer available. The libraries will be closed so that no work is lost." Please help me recover access to my project files.

Can you post a screenshot of the drive with the library showing the drive contents in list view including the size of the items?

Right-click on the library bundle and use show package contents. Look inside the events and see if the original media is in there or if you are seeing symlinks. Do not change or move or do anything inside the library bundle. Just see what’s going on in there.

I guess you don’t have another drive that’s larger than the one you’re using.
