Safari downloads a damaged file every time

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro M1 to Sequoia, and I’ve been having a bit of a problem with Safari. Whenever I try to download a file, it shows as if the download is complete, but the file stays in the .download format. On the other hand, when I use Chrome, everything works perfectly.

It appears that Safari has for some reason no access to my downloads folder, which is located on an external drive. I tried looking for a setting under security settings in the OS, but I couldn't find any

Can anyone help me out? I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks a bunch!
