When I place my apple watch after charging it throughout the evening, I notice the battery charge show at 88%. Prior to this it was showing 100%. The watch is over 2 to 3 years old. Has anyone encountered this problem and if so, how can I get this rectified? Thx

Unlikely, but it might be optimized battery charging. See:

Also check the Battery Health and see what it shows for "Maximum Capacity". If it's below 80%, it's probably time to contact Apple about getting the battery replaced.
