Apple Mail vs Gmail

Why is it when I go to my Apple email icon it just sits here and keep saying it connecting connecting. The same time I use the Gmail icon the email loads immediately? This doesn’t make sense. It’s the same connection and the same time and Gmail load immediately well, Apple Mail icon sit there and spin.
