Verification code issue on 2015 MacBook Pro

Hello everyone,

I am using a 2015 Apple MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite (version 10.10.5). Unfortunately, I’m unable to use updated versions of Microsoft Office, Chrome, and other software due to the outdated operating system.

I recently erased the MacBook, which I purchased second-hand, and tried to sign in with my own Apple ID. However, during the sign-in process, it asks me to "enter the verification code sent to your other device," but I don’t have access to another trusted device to receive the code.

As a result, I’m stuck and unable to move forward or go back. My MacBook is essentially unusable at this point.

I’d greatly appreciate any advice or solutions you can provide to resolve this issue.

Thank you in advance!

The previous owner apparently did not follow the guidance here: What to do before you sell, give away, trade in, or recycle your Mac - Apple Support

The computer is still associated with the old owner’s Apple ID. You will have to contact the previous owner and have them release the computer properly. Otherwise you will not get past this block. There is no workaround.
