Why does my AirPods Pro 2 custom transparency mode turn off?
I have AirPods Pro 2 (7B21) an iPhone 16 Pro Max (iOS 18.1) and an Apple Watch 10 (Watch OS 11.1). To assist my hearing I have set up the APP2s with Custom Transparency Mode and Conversation Boost switched on.
However from time to time and apparently randomly the CTM and CB settings turn off - very annoying. Following a lead from others on this forum I chased the problem down to the Bluetooth settings on my Apple Watch. With the AW BT "on", the random disconnection occurs. With the AW BT "off", no change to the APP2 CTM and CB settings. They remain solid and reliable until their battery goes flat!!.
I have had three Chat sessions with Apple about this matter. The first two resulted in my going to the local Apple Store and they couldn't help. One "Genius" claimed in his 8 years he had never come across this issue.
My third chat resulted in a long (over 2 hours) conversation fault finding with a Senior advisor actually a person ie over the telephone - amazing. She was unable to resolve the matter and after taking a screen video of the random disconnection occurring said she would raise the matter with engineering and get back after 48 hours - Patiently waiting.
I realize many here will not have the time to spend 2 hours with apple support but this lady again said there was no previous report of this issue to which I said on the forum there are many such reports.
Take away is you have to escalate as much as possible to get. action but so far no resolution so lets see what happens. In the mean time turn off your Apple Watch Bluetooth.
