How do I stop ios photos from auto previewing?

Not sure if this is a new feature in the latest IOS, but it's annoying. When scrolling through pictures on my iPhone at some point it begins to preview the next picture and cutting off the one I want to look at - so you end up with two pictures overlapping. How can I turn this off? Thanks.

Interesting-- I can reproduce this:

I'm swiping the image to the left, and the next image moves into its place. This can only happen in Preview mode, since "Crop" only appears when you're zoomed in. I had to hold the images in place with one finger while making the screenshot with the other hand-- if I let go, it immediately pops to the picture that's most in the frame. This all seems pretty OK to me-- it certainly doesn't get stuck, for me, and it doesn't do it without my already being in Preview mode.

Can you tell us how your experience is different?

I'm not sure what you're doing, but I know that slight movements can switch modes. I can tap on a picture in the main window and get a larger picture surrounded by editing stuff:

And if I tap on the picture again it fills the screen.

You can swipe right or left to change pictures in either mode. But if you accidentally swipe a little upward, you get the info window. If you accidentally swipe a little downward, you get the Library window with thumbnail images. If you cross your eyeballs while whistling Dixie you get…well, I don't know.
