I have a family member who is in a lot of photos in the photo app on my iPhone 16 Pro Max but the circle and question mark do not appear at the bottom for her, so I can’t identify her. Even if she’s in photos with other people, the circle doesn’t appear.

Photos may have merged her face with another person. You may want to check the faces in the People albums of the other persons to see, if she is appearing there.
How long have you been waiting? It can take a very long time to scan all the faces, and if you've only recently updated to iOS 18, it's starting all over again. So you may have to be patient.

Thanks, unfortunately there’s no circle to click on to see if that’s happening (see photo). Also she’s a 4 year old, but there have been no issues identifying her 2 year old sister.
