Siri not working on my iPhone XR after iOS 18.1 update

Since updating to iOS 18.1 I noticed my Siri doesn’t hear my voice unless I plug in headsets, thought something was wrong with the phone mic but the mic works perfectly fine on other apps (e.g. voice memos, ChatGPT). The problem also seems to extend to dictation on the keyboard. Tried resetting my phone to factory and setting hey siri up again but still no solution. Has anyone encountered this problem and found a fix around it?

mpho14 ~ A weak, aging battery can cause such issues in an old model iPhone. So...

Does your iPhone XR still have its original battery?

And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...

Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging

Got the same problem on my XR.

Siri is now grouped under Apple Intelligence.

**Apple Intelligence requirements for iPhone, iPad and Mac**

• iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max; any iPad with A17 Pro or M1 and later; Mac with M1 or later

• iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 or macOS Sequoia 15.1

My battery health is pretty low, but thought since it’s been almost a year with my battery at this level and the problem only seemed to arise now that it would be a bug in the software update. I’ll try get my battery replaced and see if that fixes the problem
