Will subscriptions renew if my account is permanently locked

I recently moved to Norway but wasn’t ready to give up my USA access for my Apple account, and I go back to the States every so often. Plus changing your region deletes current subscriptions.


I created a Norway Apple account using my business email. That way I can use Norway apps like for my electricity utility use. But then it kept wanting me to sign in to verify my account. I did so using my Norwegian phone number. And I used my Norwegian bank card to get a subscription. Well I got locked out and contacted Norway Apple support. They say I’m completely locked out, and there’s nothing they can do.


I’m now worried that the subscription I signed up for will continue to charge me every month. I have no way of canceling it since it’s locked, “This account is locked and cannot be used.” Since my purchases are disabled it won’t charge me, right?? Please help.

I too think that in this situation they would stop charging you, but again contact official support to be sure. Refer to this page for Apple Support features ➔ Contact - Official Apple Support

Select from the presented options until you find a solution for your issue, or see if there is a chat or phone call contact method offered lower on the page (you sometimes have to narrow down the options multiple times before this is shown). If you do not see your issue, keep experimenting with any series of selections until you reach one that offers a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

Did you try to use the two Apple Accounts from the same device at the same time?


That or similar usage tripping anti money laundering AML / FinCEN / FINRA or basic fraud detection and then with a resulting lockout wouldn’t surprise.


But this isn’t going tomget solved here, as was mentioned.


Maybe contact Apple Corporate via the USPS address or 408 phone number.

I think that it wouldn’t charge you, but you can better contact the Norway apple support again to be sure. We are apple users on this mainly user to user based forum and we don’t have access to the systems like they have at apple support. I am sure they would help you cancel the subscriptions if they’re still on since you account is permanently locked

Right, but maybe others have been in this situation where their accounts got permanently locked and they had subscriptions. I don't need anyone to access my account. Obviously I wouldn't be asking that of a community forum. I'm hoping someone has been in this situation where their account access was denied and their subscriptions didn't renew. A simple, "That happened to me and I was not charged." is all I'm looking for. If you haven't been in this situation then you are unable to help answer my question. The Norway people just said they don't think I'll be charged, but they weren't sure.

You are welcome to hope somebody comes by who happens to know the answer but from my experience in 20 years on this forum it may be a long wait (and after a while, threads that have no recent replies get locked so even if somebody does have an answer they can't post it). Typically people come here because they have a question, not because they have an answer looking for a question. Not saying it never happens but it is rare.


If you do find you are being charged, cancel the card that is being used to make the payments. This is kind of an extreme solution but since you do not care about the account anymore…

Hi, as my title states I'm concerned about being charged from a locked account. I do not care about gaining access to the account. It's my fault for including too much detail in my post. I'm well aware that a forum does not solve these issues. But after searching through many forum posts I have seen some people post about how they were charged while their account was BRIEFLY locked, like a few days. I don't understand why I cannot ask a similar question, but with an account permanently locked.

I realize it's a shot in the dark, but it's certainly better than twiddling my thumbs for a month to see if I get charged.


It's my fault for including too much detail in the post. And had I thought about that in the 15 minutes one can edit a post, I would have deleted it all except what the TITLE asks. Frankly, I would delete if I could as all anyone here is concerned about is why the account got locked.


And if calling Apple themselves doesn't confidently answer my question (because it is a question, not an answer), why not turn to other avenues that may answer it? Even if it's unlikely.
