I tried to update my apps but app store is keep telling me "verification required" and when I put my password it brings me to payment section and telling me to add payment method because app store thinks I have active subscription but all my subscriptions are expired. can someone help me with this problem?

Unless your subscriptions have fully expired and say so, they are still active even if you have canceled them. Until then you have to add a payment method even if you are waiting for them to expire.
