Mac keyboard is disabled during boot and cannot press any key to access anything

I cannot press any key to boot from cd, Mac keyboard disabled throughout the boot up. Why would Apple MAC disable the keyboard when it is needed the most? The new install of windows xp pro begins to boot then goes to the blue screen of death, and suggests I run dskchk/r but with the keyboard disabled I cannot.

Are you using wireless devices? Borrow or buy an inexpensive USB wired keyboard (and mouse) and connect those to the computer for troubleshooting. Even a PC keyboard would work.

Exactly which Mac model and year are you having trouble with?

And which macOS version?

Find that info by clicking the Apple menu () at the top-left of your screen and then select About This Mac. (Note- for privacy and security reasons, please never post your serial number.)

Besides the disabled Apple keyboard, I’ve tried the wireless keyboard from my iPad, and a pc keyboard. I originally had a disfunctioning Tiger ois in this 2015 Mac w/Intel Core Duo, 32 bit and replaced it with Windows Xp Pro sp2 that worked well until I rebooted last time and now get the BSOD telling me to run chkdsk/r on c volume, but when asked to “press any key to boot from CD”, I can’t access the Recovery Console, because no active keyboard, and XP tries to boot, but halfway through I get the BSOD. I’ve also tried every keyboard combo I can, but no keyboard to do that with.
