iPhone 16 Pro bluetooth incompatible with Bushnell Wingman 2 speakers

I recently upgraded from iPhone 14 Pro to 16 Pro (iOS 18.1.1). Once I did that my Bushnell Wingman 2 speakers produce horrible sound quality with cutting in/out at a very high rate. I've tried reinstalling the Bushell app, speakers and spoke to Bushnell several times. I even sent the speakers into their lab for testing, came back fine. I then reconnected the Bushnell speakers to my old iPhone 14 Pro (iOS 18.0) and they work great in TWS mode (stereo).

According to the web the version of Bluetooth is the same on both phones. I'm at my wits end. anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this?
