Will I be able to make calls on old iPhone after I transfer cellular data to my new iPhone

When transferring old phone to new, and activate the eSIM card will I no longer be able to make calls on the old phone?

Well, it's not as clear cut.

Technically if your carrier disables your SIM card, your old iPhone won't directly be able to place calls or send messages, but if you have Continuity enabled and "Calls on other devices" turned on, your old iPhone can use the service on the new iPhone to make calls and send messages if both are logged in to the same Apple account.
