Can't remove a payment card from Apple Pay / Wallet on my Mac

I have a card that has been cancelled in my Mac's Apple Pay/Wallet and I want to delete it, but when I click on the card I get a message that verification is needed. Of course, Apple is unable to verify it, since I canceled the card with my provider, so a message says to contact my provider. I don't want to verify it; I want to remove it. However, that option is grayed out, and the system hangs a several moments, then gives me an error message taking me back to the previous dialog screen—neither of which has no option for deleting the card. How do I get rid of it? And, please, don't tell me to look for the three dots, as they don't exist. (I'm using a 2021 Apple M1 Max chip 16" MacBook Pro, running Sequoiah 15.1.1.)

The bank has already cancelled the card at my request. That’s not the problem (although, thanks for attempting an answer—I appreciate that). I have to delete the card from my Apple Pay on my side, but the button which would allow me to do that is grayed out because the card can no longer be verified.

Waiting to cancel the card until after I deleted it from Apple Pay wasn’t an option because of security concerns.

Surely there’s a way to delete a card from Apple Pay without having to first confirm it.
