‘Passwords App’ not changing to new password?

yes - this is kinda of stupid - hopefully, they will update it (manana, or "after it rains on a Thursday"). In the meantime, get something that works (Bitwarden comes to mind) - free and across devices. Oh and updates your passwords automatically.

Hey! Thanks so much for this tip! I’ve been having a lot of issues with it not saving new passwords I create in the app as well as it not deleted the old ones . It’s caused me nothing but trouble! I’m glad it’s working for someone. I will try this tip out right now!

So if this is a known problem, I hope they are going to fix it. Mine is telling me my passwords have been compromised and I need to update them. But then when I update them the password app does not save them so I have been getting locked out of things like my banking app!

This would be ok but this app doesn’t log a new app or websites for you to then go in edit the password. Also even if the app or website is already logged it still doesn’t save the password when it says it does and even putting in the old password manually into the site doesn’t work, I’ve been locked out of at least two websites now. Apple you need to sort this, nobody trusts this new password app and this is now becoming a security issue.

Yes this is a solution BUT not the right one. The old way remembered your password in the keychain and now it doesn't and when you're using a "Strong Password" as they suggest and it doesn't save, well that's not good. This has now happened to me on multiple occasions and forces me to use the can't remember password to reset on the sight and that is downright inconvenient.

Just when you think Apple is making a step forward they take two steps backward. Keychain worked really well at updating passwords then some bright programmer comes along and screws it all up. I would like to know why this change was made because it’s NOT user friendly. It also makes me wonder if Apples “Security and Privacy” are nothing but a catch phrase when in fact it’s just another company stealing peoples private information. I really don’t trust any of these companies anymore.

The point is that the new way is not recording password changes in real time and/or not recording half the time regardless if you choose "Remember Password" or not. Your point of extra steps to go into the settings means nothing when the application is forcing you to go in and edit it manually half the time.

My Passwords apps records password changes in real time; as I update and app passwords frequently with my 350 or so sites I haven’t had any problems. But note that it only works seamlessly with apps and Safari. Other browsers have their own built in password managers that do not sync with Apple Passwords; if they did that would be a potential privacy violation.

They will not.

Some of their issues like this have a pattern of delay based on small number of irate users.

It might get corrected in the next Operating System, but maybe 50%. The app will change enough to cover their lack of response if confronted.

Curious to this about the Keychain and password app on iPhone iOS 18. Recent Update , I know Keychain is a Security Feature , and So is the Password App that allows us different types of security settings in Password App , & updating /changing passwords, using Codes etc. or Face ID , my Question is Now that we have been told our Data has been highly exposed from all various aspects of all our different types of accounts … no matter which ones , What really is our best security measure now with our iPhones especially for the older iPhones 12ProMax that don’t have the capabilities to upgrade to the AI & newer coming updates for Newer iPhones w/ AI capabilities & higher security features probably coming out or now built into them this coming Year 2026’ ? Is Facial Recognition still a safe option & the Code unlock feature , as well as still using the passwords for the websites. We visit & the 2nd verification feature ! Or should we begin Really Beefing up our iPhones with VPNS AND ie… MCAFEE ..AVAST ..? ALL OVER AGAIN LIKE WE USED TO DO OUR OLD PCS & LAPTOPS ? I thought those days were almost gone … because we have APPLE PRODUCTS . And we use the great security features on them ‼️

I’m just so confused lately and I have iCloud plus , all that too ..

What's best depends on what you're trying to protect. If you are trying to prevent access to your phone, FaceID is still a safe option.

No, you should not be using McAfee or other third-party AV software. And, unless your employer has provided you with a VPN to access a secured server, you shouldn't be using one of those, either.

I don't see why you should be adding anything.

Bought a new iPad and in the process of setting it up I changed my apple password. Logged back in to my account on all my other devices. Thought things were fine but NONE of my devices show the new password in the Passwords app nor is it in my iCloud account.

so exactly what use is the Passwords app? Should I go back to my spreadsheet and makeup my own passwords?
