New IPad can’t close apps by swiping up….
I have a brand new IPad. I can not close apps by swiping up.

Apps are forced-closed using the App Switching page...
To expose the App Switcher page, swipe upwards from the bottom edge to the centre of the screen - and pause briefly before lifting your finger. You should now see a thumbnail image of each open App; simply swipe the corresponding thumbnail off the top of the screen.
