Account Locked - Resolution Mac Mini M4

Recently purchased Mac Mini M4 and went through the Migration process successfully but could not login to Mac Mini notifying me that my account was locked. After much searching and many attempts to try different passwords only to be continually locked out for longer periods of up to 8hrs! Decided to follow the instructions from apple support and start afresh by reinstalling MacOS (Sequoia). For the Mac Mini M4 the OS reinstall has to start from from a shutdown point this will give you the the. From there. options need to progress, so hold down the power button for about 20secs until you see apple logo and an options screen. Select options and continue to the next page and select reinstall OS from there you will presented with an option to forget all passwords which should start a process to deactivate. Accept deactivate you will there be presented with an option to create a new Mac password and hint (this is the password and hint you use to access your MAC and not you appleid) the system will then go through a couple of reboots/restarts and you should end up at the login screen wher you new password should work. Accessing my account showed the migration was completed and all files an apps were available.

Perhaps it's too late but I had a related experience with my wife being locked out of her new Mac mini M4 (running Sequoia 15.2) but only after the machine had been correctly set up and was working well. Fortunately, I had created 2 administrator accounts, one for myself as well as a backup administrator account. When the problem happened, I was still able to login. I used my account to reset her password back to the original. That allowed her to login as usual.


Following that experience, I followed a series of troubleshooting steps including booting into Safe Mode. So far the problem hasn't reoccured.

Same thing here bought Mac Mini M4 could not login, my account got blocked for 2 days (thanks Apple, still time to refund). Today I got reset password email, which led me to webpage, which again,... required password... which of course is not working, so when I tried to do ? put there old password I think was right, and I have to wait 2 days...

I got my Mac about a week ago.afyer it refused to let me sign in,and locked my account,I got the text message to allow me to unlock my account. I've changed my password numerous times now on the Mac online accounts website, using my phone AND the new Mac Mini, but despite that,I can NOT sign into the actual Mac Mini itself in order to access my Logic projects or download anything at all. it's just absolutely ridiculous and farcical.the same,correct details,but the Mac Mini just won't recognise it. What are we supposed to do? It's utterly useless without being able to sign in
