V. Old MacBook Air - need to factory reset but getting error messages

Hi, I need to factory reset my MacBook Air to delete everything on it. I have forgotten my password so cannot get into it in the usual way. Trying in recovery mode using my AppleID but it keeps saying "error connecting to Apple ID server".


I have then tried "erase mac" from drop down but is keeps saying "couldn't open device -69877".


Any helps would be appreciated as I would like to clear the MacBook of any data.
