Settings > General > About. If "No SIM restrictions" appears next to Carrier Lock, your iPhone is unlocked. If a carrier name appears, then the iPhone is locked to that carrier.

Did you finance it with carrier? If so, probably yes. Contact the carrier and they can positively tell you. Does you iPhone show SIM locked?
