I cannot get my iphone to stop repeating responses to my texts out loud

It seems that the "across-the-board" answers are how to turn off voice to text. I do not want that. i love voice to text. But suddenly, out of nowhere, I get this loud response to my texts. It is MOST awkward, especially if it's confidential or in the middle of a business meeting. Also, perchance, did a recent upgrade bring this along? I suspect that I did this unknowingly. Thanks for any help!
