FCP 11.0 Crashes when importing

When trying to import media that was transferred from an older iMac, Final Cut immediately crashes. Files are Quicktime movies. Final Cut Pro was installed on my new iMac when purchased, so I can't reinstall it. This is the first time I've tried to start a project. Any help would be appreciated.

Issue resolved. After two calls with Apple, the issue was determined to be the codecs on my source material that are no longer supported by Apple (DV/DVC Pro). I had to convert all of my old Quicktime files to a supported codec, assemble those in a desktop folder for Final Cut to recognize them. Now all is working fine. Final Cut will crash if it detects even one outdated file in a folder. Using 2023 iMac 24in. M3chip, Sequoia 15.1.1, Final Cut 11.0

Thanks for your response. Hope this helps someone else.

Can you give us a few more details about the problem? This is not a common occurrence so additional details can help us help you. For example, iMac model, macOS version, FCP version, how much free space on the system drive, any external drives and how they're connected and formatted. An easy way to provide these answers is to paste an https://etrecheck.com report here using the "Additional text" button below in your reply.

What troubleshooting steps have you tried? Have you reset FCP Settings? Hold option and command while launching, the choose Delete Settings. FCP will open the default Untitled library. Reopen the library you were working on, configure the settings the way you like (disable background rendering, etc.) and see if the problem has been resolved.

What are the specific specs of the media that causes the crash? Open the clip in QuickTime Player and post a screen shot of the Get Info window with all the details twirled open.

Can you successfully import anything or does FCP crash no matter what's imported?

I do not believe this is correct information. DVCPro and other DV formats still work in FCP. The format is still supported. It's working correctly in the current versions of FCP and macOS.

I should add that I wouldn't recommend capturing DV tape in FCP, but rather use the QuickTime Player.
