lack of Emojis on 24"iMac

I cannot access the emoji character viewer in my mail. I have tried the global key, edit-emoji & symbols option, and all other noted methods involving the keyboard...I have gone to settings and noted the the fn key to be used for emojis...UI have no idea what else to do. My system is Sequoia 15.1.1 Thank you.

I'm going to guess you're not using Mission Control and/or spaces, but here's some info on it.

View open windows and spaces in Mission Control on Mac - Apple Support

• Show all open windows for the current app: Press Control-Down Arrow.

• From a keyboard: To enter or leave Mission Control, press the Mission Control key  or press Control-Up Arrow.

You can use the shortcuts above to expose various apps and other windows, i.e. Emoji Viewer, to see what all may be open and/or hidden by others. I sometimes find that the Viewer has been opened on another desktop and this have been helpful.

If the menu choice is "Hide Emoji and Symbols", one can infer that the pallet is already visible on that desktop somewhere. Are you using the Mission Control feature with spaces and multiple desktops? Does the Emoji viewer work properly in other apps?

Any chance the viewer is hidden by some other app window(s)?

Have you restarted the Mac lately?

When the feature is working, it really isn't hard at all.

Thanks for the info, Mr Toad. I do have the menu at the top but I can't seem to change the "hide emoji" setting to "show emoji" setting. I have done everything you have suggested and still no character viewer. I am a bit frustrated so maybe time to make a call to Apple.Good grief! It shouldn't be so hard.
