iMovie App can't be deleted (in MacOS 15.1.1)

Recently I desired to delete the iMovie App from my Mac, which was not successful. I could move the app to the recycle bin, but the attempt to delete the iMovie file in the recycle bin immediately is acknowledged with the following error message:

“The operation cannot be completed because some objects had to be skipped. For each object, choose File > Information, make sure Protected is turned off, then select the Share & Access Rights section. If you're sure that the objects aren't protected and that you don't have Read Only or No Rights set, try again.”

What I did thus far:

    • Checked suffix of app file > diverse entities are displayed authorised to read & write the file (me, admin, everyone, system)
    • App file is not set as “protected”
    • Checked operating user account > is admin account
    • Checked Activity monitor > clean
    • Tried to delete the app in Mac Safe Mode > negative

So, none of the cases mentioned in the error message are present.

Any ideas / relevant tips?

Remind you that it's about deleting the iMovie app file ‘immediately’ as described, i.e. deleting the iMovie app file individually from the trash, which no one has responded to yet.

But let's hold on to what we have now:

  • The iMovie app can be moved to the trash at any time.
  • It cannot be deleted individually from the recycle bin.
  • It will be deleted if you empty the entire recycle bin.
