My IPad mini 2 won’t connect to the internet

My iPad mini 2 (which was connected yesterday) keeps saying the password is incorrect. I went to my iPhone and checked the network password and tried it 10 times, even using the “share password” feature. It keeps saying the password is wrong even though it is correct. I already pressed the network reset button from settings.

Start with basic WiFi troubleshooting - as detailed here:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support

Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points - Apple Support

Consider that your Router, to which you are attempting to connect, may be configured to require support for security features that are not supported by older versions of iOS. If you have an older iPad and your router is configured for WPA3 or WPA3/WPA2 mixed authentication, you will need to change this to WPA2 PSK(AES). Newer models of iPad support WPA3.

Some Mesh WiFi Routers are known to be troublesome in some circumstances.

If your WiFi has been set-up according to Apple’s recommended settings, WiFi and Internet connection difficulties are usually an indication that your device does not have a routable IP Address - your IP Address usually being assigned by DHCP. When this occurs, your iPad may only have a self-assigned link-local IP address that begins 169.254.x.x.

If you have a VPN App or profiles installed, or a security App such as Norton, these may be interfering with DHCP - and preventing your device from obtaining a valid IP Address for the WiFi network/hotspot to which you are attempting to connect. The resolution is usually simple; if installed, you may only need to temporarily disable or remove the Security App and/or VPN.

I am not sure if you already resolve the issue or not, but I want to give u a tip. I got the same issue, only my iPad cannot connect to wifi, the IP address starts with 169. I tried to reboot iPad, router and reset network, they all not working.

Here is the steps to make it work, configure a static IP and server

  1. go to wifi setting, click on the 'I' icon next to the SSID that you want to connect
  2. click on 'Configure IP' -> change to manual
  3. Enter IP address (has to be unique), subnet mask and router IP ( you can find this information on other devices) -> click save
  4. go back to Wi-Fi menu, click on 'Configure DNS', and change it to Manual, then enter DNS server (same as router IP address) because router is your device local server -> click save

get out and check your browser, it should work.

Note: must change to manual on both 'Configure IP" and 'Configure DNS' to make it work. if you don't change 'Configure DNS', it will not work !!!

Good luck and have a nice Thanksgiving !!!
