Delete birthday from calendar but not in contact

I want to delete birthdays of people who have died from my calendar.

But I do not want to delete the birthday in my contacts nor delete the contact in order to remove the birthday.

I’m using 18.1.1 on 14 Pro Max

You can either:

disable the birthday calendar as a whole by deselecting it. This will remove all birthdays

or, delete the birthday from your contact, perhaps storing it in notes.

Deleting in contact removed it from my calendar. Saved in notes. Wish Apple could fix this.
