Microphone on airpods 2 is not working

Hello,

i have airpods 2 and never had an issue. Just recently i found out the microphone is not working. The connection is fine, i hear perfectly well when i play music, videos or even if someone calls me, i can hear them. But they can’t hear me.

I’ve tried everything i found to fix it myself - forgot the device and reconnected it, reset it from the case, switched the microphone settings to left and right airpod, cleaned them, blew them, anything but the issue remains.

When i open the “live listener” i see that it notices my voice and the sound around me but when i’m on a call on Messenger, Cellular call or whatsapp the mic is not working.

Can you advise what could be the reason and more importantly how to fix it?

My phone is Iphone 12 Pro Max with 17.6.1 version and my airpods are with the latest version which is available - 6F21.
