I'm on a MacPro early 2015 running Big Sur 11.710 and Safari 14.1.3
Am I out of luck if I don't want to upgrade to a newer OS?

For the early 2015 MacBook Pro can update to Monterey, so that is one OS version up from Big Sur
For a supported browser you can always download Firefox, that one has still updated versions for Big Sur also
Thanks for your reply.....I was told by a computer tech that upgrading to a newer OS would slow my laptop down significantly but I don't really know if that would be the case? Can I reverse the process if I find Monterey slows my laptop down too much?
There is no need to upgrade macOS in this situation.
I suggest switching to either Firefox or Brave as your browser. Firefox is continually updated and is more secure than the older version of Safari that you are limited to on Big Sur.
If you go the Firefox route, I suggest adding 2 extensions to Firefox ... uBlock Origin and Privacy Badger for some additional privacy/security that is not available in Safari.
