I attempted to do a system update and screen is stuck on "verifying update" for 2 hours. I tried to do a shutdown, but can't. I get the screen with button to power off but screen doesn't respond - to anything. iPad is plugged in.

thanks - but... I can't get the forced shutdown, re-start to work either. I can get to the shutdown screen, but the "slide off" button won't respond, nothing responds. I've unplugged it and home if it "dies" I can then do something
