I despise the iOS 18 Photos App. How do you cope?
Hiding all the folders underneath the scrollable pictures curtailed my use of said folders to zero. As someone with thousands of photos (which Apple very much encourages with functional and affordable storage options), who often needs to browse through them - I am not going to scroll down for 10minutes to reach the folders.
But more importantly - the slider in the videos. The fact that you now have *either* a full screen view *or* a slider to select a specific moment in the video is the least usable change imaginable. What does one need when looking for a specific moment in a video? Hm, I dont know, *maybe to see the screen*. And the snapshot view on the slider has always been a highlight of the app for me, as it makes choosing the right moment so much easier. If you work with longer video content, and want to screenshot or show to someone a specific snapshot or two - the snapshot slider was immensly useful. A highlight of the app, RIP.
It wouldnt bother me that much If I didnt need to use both of these for work. And Im sure it can't just be me. iPhones, having standout camera and storage options, are often used by professionals working with of photo and video content - like myself. And everyone I asked has been driven nutts by this. I can understand buying into the infinite scroll tactics, but why, oh why did you touch the video slider.
Hence comes my question to the community: how do you cope? Is this at all fixable? Or should we just transition to a different software?
And my question to the Apple workers in the community: could you help us bring justice to the old photos app (and raise the problems to your bosses to fix in the new update?) Id be much obliged.
