how do i downsize the emoji keyboard?
The emojis are now way too big and hard to navigate through.

There is not an option to do that. Previously users complained that the emojis were too small, so apparently Apple read the feedback that those users submitted and now you see that they have been made bigger. You can do the same and let Apple know how you feel by sending feedback here:
