Safari freezing while loading pages

This is recent - 27" iMac running Sequoia 15.1.1

I have all security turned on including hide IP address

Bank sites and others will load but then freeze, for example, before I can enter a user ID and password.

Or the site will show the box to enter these data but the box won't populate when I try to type in it

Has anyone experienced this or come up with a solution?
