Mail app no longer syncs with my Outlook after iOS 18 update

I have recently updated to IOS 18 on both my iPhone and iPad and since having done so the Mail app no longer syncs with my classic outlook. Ironically, the sent mails seem to sync but the Inbox and it's sub folders no longer do

Microsoft updated their security settings a few weeks ago. On each device, remove your Outlook account and add it again.

No, you will not. All your emails and calendar events are stored on the Microsoft servers. They will be downloaded again to your iPhThat doesn't always workone as soon as you add your account again (after removing it from your iPhone).

That doesn't always work in Mail

I eventually made contact with apple technical support and received a call back from a very helpful support agent who talked me through the process of deleting the relevant mail accounts from the mail app on each of my devices before re instating the accounts. She assisted via me sharing my device screens. The mail accounts reloaded perfectly and all is now working as before with no loss of data, contacts or calendar entries.
