Newly 18 year-olds getting locked Apple Cash

How many newly 18 year olds are getting locked Apple Cash accounts since they just turned 18? Customer service is bad when a young adult is trying to express the issues, however, when a parent askes questions they immediately say “we cannot include you in the conversation.”

As a parent I made the decision to go with Apple for functionality. Now as a parent we’re going Android. Permanently locked out, because a child turned 18.

Sorry, it’s not clear to me if you’re the parent or young adult. The parent should contact Apple Support and confirm the teens age charge on their Apple Account/Apple ID.

Is/was the teen a member of an Apple Family Sharing group? If so, alert the support person to this as well.

Does the teen have the necessary identification requirements to confirm the identity to an Apple Cash specialist at Green Dot Bank? The identification requirements are federal banking regulations and are required by any electronic wallet, bank etc.

To abswer your question as to number of 18 year olds having issue, very few that have followed Apple’s recommendations and federal regulations.

Not sure who said you can’t be included, but yes if the bank can establish identity fir both parties, a representative/parent can be included in the conversation per federal guidelines.

Here is the basis for the issue.

Why is positive ID required?

The Patriot Act requires that lenders, banks etc obtain a confirmed ID.

“To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.”

Identity verification for Apple Card or Apple Cash

Jeff is way too difficult and Apple kept the money transferred to the 18 year old child, mother, me still had the funds deducted from my bank account and never returned. However, on Apple’s end they will only speak to the young adult and will not help resolve the issue at hand, missing monies that left a moms bank account and never credited to 18 year old child Apple Cash. Their Apple Cash account was locked indefinitely after the transfer occurred.
