Documents/Desktop folders mismatch between MacBook and iCloud (MacOs Sequoia)

I've always used MacOs in Italian, as my native language, and everything worked just fine.

When I've installed Sequoia on my MacBook (M2 Pro), the system has created new "Documents" and "Desktop" (in English) folders, and stopped to synchronize it with my original "Documenti" and "Scrivania" (in Italian) folders on iCloud.

So now the system folders "Documents" and "Desktop" are empty and I have to work on the iCloud folders "Documenti" and "Scrivania" where all my data is stored. The system does not synchronize the new folders with iCloud either: the option to synchronize Documents and Desktop is now disabled, and when I try to enable it, it is disabled again after a second. Any idea how to re-link the system folders Documents/Documenti and Desktop/Scrivania with the existing ones on iCloud?

Strange. I would sign out of your Apple Account on that Mac, then sign back in.

It will ask about saving local copies of some things. That should not be necessary as it will duplicate all of those items when you sign back into your Apple Account.

It would be interesting if it asked about saving an archive of your Desktop & Documents since it doesn't seem to be enabled.

So, I tried: I've sign out and sign in, but nothing changed. It asked actually to save an archive, but it hasn't saved anything.

Other weird thing: every time I try to turn on the synchronization with iCloud, the system creates a desktop folder on iCloud "Scrivania di Giovanni 1", then 2, 3, 4 and so on, with the files actually on the desktop in that moment, AND cleaning the desktop. So now my desktop is empty, with all files moved in the folders on iCloud. :/

Probably I should initialize the MacBook, and try to re-start from scratch. What do you think?

Update: I've tried again to turn on the Documents and Desktop synchro on iCloud, and this time it worked. Now I have both folders shown under iCloud in the Folder left bar, with all correct content, as it should be.

So, sign off and on apparently helped to solve the issue. Thanks!
