Setting up AirTags on MacBook?

Is it possible to setup AirTags using only an MacBook?

On various sites I read that either an iPhone, or iPod Touch, or iPad is required; IOW: a device with iOS. I've got a MacBook with macOS and Android phones. Would I be able to use AirTags?
