IOS 18.1.1 Digital AV Adaptor Issues (Lightning to HDMI)

Hi All,

I have experienced problems following the installation of IOS 18.1.1. I Zwift using my Iphone XR and project to a monitor using an apple lightning adapter, I have very rarely had any issues with this until I installed IOS 18.1.1 as now the signal does not leave my phone to project onto the monitor (not just on Zwift - it's the same on the home screen & any other app's). The set up is completely unchanged and works fine using my son's Iphone (using an earlier version of IOS). I have tried restarting the phone numerous time and done a network refresh and have run out of ideas... has anyone else experienced this?

I can still use Zwift on my phone but it's far from ideal using the small monitor on my phone... especially with my diminishing eyesight!).

Any assistance would be welcomed.....

UPDATE FROM NITA!!

Apple said to buy the APPLE brand Lightening AV Adaptor and switch it out with the Apple compatible brand I have. I did the Reset Ethernet thing and it still didn't work, so I went to Walmart and bought the APPLE Lightening AV adaptor, and when I hooked it up I got a message that it was downloading in my phone, and WALA!! DONE! It worked! I am all fixed up!! Just buy the Apple made one. 45.00 at Walmart ! Thanks everyone!! Lord Bless! I can finally watch my online Church again on the big screen!!

I’m having the same issue. iPhone 14. Used Lightning to HDMI flawlessly for the past couple of years. Now since the 18.1.1 update I get the “using too much power” error

After the 18.1.1 update, I can no longer show photos for class presentations with Lightning AV Adaptor. "Accessory requires too much power " is the message.

Before the update, I used this adaptor for years. I really rely on this for teaching.

Anything I can do?

Tried this on a new iPad Mini A17 (2024) running iPadOS 18.1.1 which has a problem with HDMI audio to TV. This procedure makes no difference.

I have USB C to HDMI adapter which works on iPad Pro (2022) running OS 17.

Notes: USB C to headphone adapter works fine, so it's not the USB port that's problematic. HDMI video is OK, just sound does not work.

I get pop-up messages to update iPad Pro to OS 18.1.1, but definitely will not do that until the HDMI audio issue is resolved.

same here (message is "too much power") with an iphone 13 mini, when I plug it for audio only on my hi-fi.

My apple phone updated last night and my digital adapter still works, but when my iPad was updated (last week) adapter won’t work 😞 with iOS 18.1.1.

Yes, it’s an apple adapter.

Shutting down iPad did not help…..my apple phone works fine with the Apple digital adapter…it’s just the iPad that won’t work with the adapter.

and Apple told me it's because I was using a 3rd party adapter and to go buy an apple one !

I guess that won't solve my issue :(

No, probably not…..but….I did originally buy a 3rd party adapter…it never worked for Netflix, so I took it back and bought Apple product. But now after IOS update 18.1.1 phone works with adapter, but
