Can an iPad use Cellular and WiFi at the same time?

Can an iPad use Cellular and WiFi at the same time?

Reason for this would be access to a private network and a public network.

I would like to use WiFi to connect to a device's hotspot for private network communications. Plus have access to other items on the Public Internet.

Is this possible?

I will test this out too, but just asking the community.

Thanks.

No. From a networking perspective, your iPad does not support a dual-home network configuration.

While you can connect to WiFi and Cellular connections, only one can be active at a time; if connected to WiFi at the same time that a Cellular network connection is available, all traffic will be routed via WiFi - not Cellular.

You unfortunately bought an iPad when you needed a network router.

When you're connected into that school or business network, you’re connected to that.

You can disconnect from that and switch to cellular as needed, or can request the organization’s network IT group open up external network access.

Most organizations also aren’t fond of having unauthorized routers connected too, particularly when those routers can bypass the organization’s firewall and related rules.

Mr Hoffman,
With your comment; "You unfortunately bought an iPad when you needed a network router."
I did not buy an iPad, I am simply asking the question about networking with an iPad.
No need for the derogatory comment.
However these answers I have received tells me that I do need a router to do what I need.

Might want to not look for insults where none are intended.

Would you like to learn about network routing, and multi-homing, and network security?

Because you’re headed for all three, here.

Or given this isn’t your iPad, you’ll want to discuss your requirements with your organization’s IT group.
