How to unlock iPhone 13 from a carrier?

I just purchased an iPhone 13 from Apple and it’s not unlocked. It’s been locked to a carrier before. I guess they sold a used phone that was new. I have no idea so I got home now they’re climbing I own it so how do I work on walkers, but I’ve never had it

If you purchase an iPhone from Apple, using carrier financing, the phone may come locked to that carrier. So, if you bought this phone from Apple, using AT&T financing, that would explain it being locked to AT&T. A phone financed through Apple themselves; or paid for in full, up front; should - if my understanding is correct – be unlocked.

Note that some of the purchasing / financing options where you are supposed to get an unlocked phone require you to choose an initial carrier. With one of those, the phone might be activated with AT&T, but there should not be any carrier lock.
