Update Required to Activate Phone - Itunes doesn't recognize iPhone

Hello all,

Recently my IPhone 14 on Ios 17.1.1 stopped being able to connect to Cellular Data, saying it needed an update in order to access my carrier.

When I tried to update it initially, it got stuck on the verifying update screen for hours.

After that, I looked up what to do and I plugged it into my computer and did an update through the computer, which also sent it to factory settings.

Unfortunately, it took me to the setup screen for my iPhone, saying "iPhone locked to owner", and when I try to continue with setup it ends after "Set Up Manually" with an error saying "Unable to Activate, an update is required to activate your phone".

After searching about this online, I went back into iTunes and attempted to "Restore and Update" after taking my phone to the system restore mode.

This did not work and now I cannot activate my phone, and it still believes that it needs an update.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Have you tried putting it into recovery mode and going through with the update/restore in that state?

If you can't update or restore your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support (directions on putting it into recovery mode)

Also is your iTunes up to date (assuming you're using a windows computer). If not, try updating that too.
