Do I need to keep my Apple Pencil 1st gen connected all the time via Bluetooth to iPad 10th gen?

Just wanted to know if that’s how I should be using it on a regular basis

iPad, iPadOS 17

The Apple Pencil disconnects from Bluetooth automatically when you are not using it. As soon as you move the Apple Pencil, it reconnects automatically to Bluetooth.

So there is no need to disconnect the Apple Pencil in Settings > Bluetooth or to turn off Bluetooth.

Note that even when not connected, the Apple Pencil will consume a small amount of battery charge. Make sure to charge it occasionally if you are not using it often.
