Cannot Create New Passcode on WatchOS11 (linked to iPhone with Company Profile)

After updating my iphone 7 to the latest ios when paring with my company profiled iphone it will not accept the long passcode. It just loops continuing to ask for a new passcode.

The passcode meets the requirements of 8 numbers and not sequential etc. the message on the phone states - Your iphone has a policy that requires a new apple watch passcode.

I entered the old passcode (which meets the requirements also) and try a new one and it just keeps asking for a new passcode.

this does not happen on my old series three iwatch and I purchased a new series 10 iwatch today and its doing the same as the series 7. I am at a complete loss as to how to fix this. IT state that they have made no changes to their policy for the iwatch connection and it only happened after the update, so thinking something in that update is now not compatible with the work imaged iphone. Can anyone help with a fix or point me in the right direction?

Thanks. I have already tried those steps and also purchased a brand new Apple Watch and it has had the same issues.

it seems like there is a problem after the lasted iOS update and the company’s policy settings. As before this it worked fine with no issues for a number of years. It’s happened to 2 other people at my work so is not an isolated issue. Have tried multiple times to reboot, re pair. Sometimes setting up as a new watch and also from backup.

Same problem here with Apple Watch 6 and watch iOS 11. Nothing changed with our company profile, but when I removed my phone from the company profile and reset my Apple Watch it connected, allowed me to enter a passcode, synced and worked with no issues. As soon as I added my personal iPhone back to our company profile it went back to the screen saying: Your iPhone has a policy that requires a new Apple Watch Passcode, but never takes any long passcode I enter. Super frustrating.

Force both your watch and your iPhone to restart after unpairing them. Once they are ready to pair again try and set up as a new pairing to see if the passcode issue still exists because a fresh connection should ask you to make a new passcode.


If this works but you need to repair while restoring your backup you at least know the issue is with the backed up data not the devices.


Make sure everything is up to date also.


Try using another wifi connection or a

cellular connection to see if the network is the issue.
